» Functional activities

Functional skills are those skills that we use in everyday activities, in different environments: at home- cooking, cleaning; self help skills - bathing, brushing teeth, dressing, grooming; leisure activities, community involvement, health and hygiene, employment.

In order to prepare a student for his adult life, especially a child with disabilities, is important to give him the opportunity to work and develop all those skills through functional skill training, using a functional curriculum in the education process.

That will help the child to generalize and transfer informations and skills from one environment to a different one, using materials appropriate to the childs chronological age.
